One Thousand Dollars A Word by Lawrence Block
One Thousand Dollars A Word by Lawrence Block was a great short story. The main character, Trevathan, was a writer and had been writing short stories for this one magazine company for twenty years. Finally, he confronted his friend, Warren Jukes, who was the editor of the company. Trevathan asked for more than just five cents a word because he thought his work earned more than that since he had been writing for twenty years. Warren Jukes told him he couldn’t afford to pay him any more than that. He also told him that he should try a different kind of writing to see what would happen. After thinking about it, Trevathan tried a different kind of writing and asked for a thousand dollars a word.
Now, you’ll have to read the story to find out what happened.
