The Plot Thickens by Mary Higgns Clark is a great collection of short stories by authors such as Lawrence Block Edna Buchanan, Mary Higgins Clark, Carol Higgins Clark, and others. The Man Next Door by Mary Higgins Clark is one story that I read in the book. A woman named Bree went to see her neighbor and complained about her plumbing problem, which was a result of the one who remodeled his apartment. The man told her that there wasn’t any way her problem was caused by his roof because he did his own repairs. He told her that she should call another contractor so she could get a second opinion.

Later on, the man spent time with another woman named Tiffany. He had a secret room in his basement where he had her. He always kept his place clean and always washed, dried, and ironed her clothes. One day, something happened, and Tiffany was killed. They found her body in the lake. Bree was the next woman in the man’s life. Now you’ll have to read the book to see what happened.
